osteopathy

understanding what your body is telling you

The body functions as a whole in which everything is interconnected. When somewhere in the body mobility is reduced, due to stress, overload, injury, or prolonged tension, this can manifest as symptoms in another area.

An osteopath aims to understand these connections. Not simply to treat symptoms, but to explore what the body needs in order to function better again.

Osteopathy therefore does not start from the question “where does it hurt?”, but rather: “why has this complaint developed?”

what to expect during an osteopathic consultation

A consultation starts with an in-depth discussion about your symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle. This is followed by a manual examination of the body. Using the hands, patterns of tension and areas of restricted mobility are identified, not only at the site of the complaint, but throughout the whole body.

Treatment consists of gentle, targeted techniques aimed at restoring mobility and improving the interaction between different structures in the body.

when osteopathy may be helpful

Osteopathy can support a wide range of complaints, including:

  • neck and back pain

  • headaches or tension-related complaints

  • jaw problems

  • shoulder and pelvic pain

  • stress-related tension

  • functional digestive complaints

  • recurring or difficult-to-localise symptoms

If you are unsure whether osteopathy may be suitable for you, don't hesitate to reach out so we can discuss this together.

a different way of looking at complaints

Where conventional approaches often focus on the location of the symptom, osteopathy takes a broader perspective. For example, neck pain may be related to breathing patterns, stress, digestion, or previous injuries. Therefore, your treatment is not limited to the symptomatic area, but always considers the body as a whole.

This way of working requires time, attention, and nuance, but often leads to a better understanding of your complaint.

creating the conditions for recovery

The aim of osteopathy is to create the conditions in which the body can function more optimally again. The body has a strong inherent capacity for recovery. Osteopathy supports this process by improving the conditions in which the body can operate. Recovery is not a linear process, and each body responds differently. This is why every treatment is tailored to your individual situation.
